My FPS Glory!
Well well… looks like I was M.I.A. once more from here. I do apologize, somewhat.
I have found a real gem in the gaming world on the prestigious day of September 28th, 2005. Far Cry Instincts has been released! The long wait is over; now we may all bow down to some serious fun gaming sessions…
First, let mw make it clear that I was super skeptical on throwing down the big $50.00 for this game. Mainly because it seems like Halo 2 has been very dominant (until now) and another game I was wanting, Rainbow Six 4: Lockdown… was actually dubbed - Rainbow Six 4: LetDown… that was a major blow for me being that I was a faithful and very devoted fan to the Rainbow series. I only played the demo but 20+ of my fellow XBL friends can’t be wrong?
So I walked in to EBGames and asked a question I already had the answer for, “Is a game Far Cry Instincts here?” Puzzled, the clerk looked like I was dumb. He then started to fill in with it has been out for the PC for something like 2 years… I interrupted before he could ramble on. His fellow associate said “No, the new one for Xbox right?” I replied “Yep, not Far Cry; I want Far Cry Instincts.” Talk about a sour look of DUH on the one guy’s face. So he grabbed it out the case and there it was… tempting. I bought it! I was excited! I was so hoping it would be fun. I didn’t, however, boost my expectations to a level of that it had to be perfect.
As I pulled off the factory plastic, I got that “new game” rush going. (All gamers know that good feeling opening a new game!) I popped it in the Xbox… and prepared myself; for what I’m not exactly sure of, but just wanting to be amazed. The screen came to life with intros to the developers and whatnot… then the opening sequence… wow. Gorgeous! I first started off diving right into the Map Editor, I had read so many good things that I just had to experience it for myself! Talk about total control; you have literally endless, so it seems, possibilities to what you could design for a map. Since then I’ve built a descent map and now I’m working on another. Not to mention I’ve played on several other custom built maps out there. It’s addicting and easy.
Then from there I jumped into a quick-match online… it as Team Chaos. A death-match styled for mayhem. Talk about balance and gaming greatness. Whatever your style may be… stealthily going through bushes or running and going gun blazing this game does them both so well!
My conclusion is that I really appreciate what Ubisoft has done for this game and it puts a huge smile on my face! For anyone that has even like a FPS or thought about getting this game… you are missing out. Give it a go, I am willing to bet you are sucked in!
