Xbox 360 Thoughts

Okay, this has been expressed over through many methods and ways, but now is my time to shine :)

I was very lucky enough to have purchased the console on a midnight release after waiting 12 hours in line. I’m extremely fortunate to be one of the few owners out there.

Now oddly enough my lack of sleep, long wait and exhausted body couldn’t hook it up when I arrived home around 1AM Tuesday morning. I instead waited to wake up the next morning to set it up. After unpacking it from the box though I was just in a awe of actually owning and having the 360 in my possession! It sat to the side waiting to be plugged in for some serious gaming sessions to come.

My sweetheart asked me if I would please wait for her to get off work later that night to play the new 360 games I was reluctant at first, but complied to the simple request because it was because of her I owned this machine! So the next morning after waking up I hooked her up and dived into the new dashboard of goodies!

Wow, talk about enough to do to hold you over for hours! The newly redesigned dashboard with all its’ wonder was very time consuming and FUN to explore. I easily transferred over my current LIVE! account with no fuss, began searching through all the neat stuff in the LIVE! Marketplace and even downloaded a game demo. I was floored from being impressed.

The torture for having to wait for my sweetheart to get off work now was starting to boil with passion. Not to mention the fellow friends that were able to score a 360 also from launch were laughing and mocking me for having to wait for my girl to get home to play my 360 games. Some say I’m whipped; I call it respect, self-control and love.

Now after about 7 hours of putting around in the dashboard the machine ran flawlessly! It had initially irked me about the complaints showing up freezes, crashes and other maladies no new console owner would like to see. So far so good… still needed to get the games in to really test it! Once she arrived… she nearly passed out from being exhausted from having to go to work after staying up so late with the launch. I popped in Perfect Dark Zero… wow. My first worry was I didn’t have a HDTV would I get a good experience worthy of the machine without the newest and best TV? To my amazement and surprise yes I did! I was blown back with the presentation and beauty bestowed upon me. Even without the HDTV I was granted a look into the next generation of graphics and effects of kick ass gaming! PDZ’s offline, which I played for about an hour, before jumping on LIVE! had really grasped my attention and kept me playing.

As for LIVE! I’m very impressed with the visuals, maps and game-play to an extent. I’m used to Far Cry, Halo 2 and Battlefield 2:MC type of games that are just all around kick ass online. I’m not saying PDZ is garbage just that I know it’s a launch title and there will need to be time to redefine games and let developers put in their polish.

Kameo - holy silly-sticks Batman! This game is cream of the crop for me; it offers astounding graphics, remarkable soundFX and music, open gorgeous worlds and game-play out the whazooo! Me and my girl both enjoy this game very much. From the simplistic battling techniques to the moderate puzzles to be solved this game is great. A lot may feel it looks “childish”, but I could care less as to “looks”… if the game is fun and keeps me drawn in then so be it! Isn’t that what gaming was all about? FUN!

Call of Duty 2, hasn’t been opened yet… still debating on keeping it or maybe exchanging it for Quake IV? We’ll see.

Overall I must say I’m very pleased with my system and very fortunate to own one. I feel sorry for those having issues and problems, hopefully it’ll get corrected soon. I think MS might just have a winner this time around, though I’m not psychic, the X360 is a machine to be reckoned with.
